My Background

Our family is forever grateful for finding Lily! She has completely changed the trajectory of our daughter’s educational journey. Lily has many years of experience as a teacher and reading tutor, and is certified as a Wilson Reading Program instructor, which is considered the gold-standard reading program to teach dyslexic children. Lily is experienced, patient, and dedicated to helping our daughter succeed. Our daughter made amazing strides working with Lily for the last two and a half years and is now able to read grade level texts. Her fluency, decoding and comprehension have all improved and most importantly, her self-esteem has increased so much that now she volunteers to read in class! We recommend Lily to everyone who’s child struggles with reading. 

Ms. Alvarez comes with the highest recommendation from us! She has spent several years working with first our dyslexic son and helping to remediate his reading skills to a point of skill, accuracy, and confidence. When it became clear that our daughter had very similar struggles, Ms. Alvarez began working with her as well. She is patient with kids, yet firm enough to keep them on track and motivated. During the time Ms. Alvarez worked with our two kids, we saw them make strides that were far more significant and meaningful than anything we saw from reading support classes in our esteemed public schools.

I cannot say enough wonderful things about Lily and her expertise in reading. She is kind, understanding and very nurturing. My son was really struggling with reading and his self confidence was beginning to be impacted. After a few months of working with Lily, it was amazing not only to see the progress he was making, but the confidence in himself began to build. Lilian was absolutely amazing at getting my kids’ reading and writing levels back on track. She was engaging- personalizing sessions with themes that got the kids interested so that the learning was fun. I cannot recommend her enough!

We were so lucky to have found Lily! She is extremely knowledgeable about dyslexia and the appropriate instruction needed to help kids become competent readers. My daughter was hesitant at first, but Lily’s kindness and enthusiasm helped her warm up quickly. Lily assessed my daughter’s reading and then carefully selected the perfect curriculum to help her move forward. She kept us informed about our daughter’s progress and stumbling blocks along the way. Lily was also flexible and accommodating around scheduling. If your kiddo is dyslexic or just struggles with reading, I’d highly recommend Lily.

Lily worked with my son on a variety of things including reading comprehension, math skills, and executive functioning strategies to help him tackle school work and tests. Her strategies gave my son more confidence in the classroom and led to better performance on tests.
